چکیده

This study aimed to evaluate the antimicrobial and antibiofilm activities of black pepper essential oil (BPEO) piperine effect on gene expression in a multispecies biofilm composed Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella Typhimurium, Pseudomonas aeruginosa polypropylene surface. The minimal inhibitory concentrations BPEO were 100 25 mg/mL, respectively, against this consortium microorganisms. Sessile cell counts 5.35–7.35 log CFU/cm2 varied over time. total population eradicated ranged from 78.9% (5.88 CFU/cm2) 99.8% (4.16 CFU/cm2). Evaluation biofilm-related showed upregulation L. monocytogenes genes agrC (24 72 h), agrD (72 prfA h) downregulation all evaluated S. Typhimurium P. untreated control biofilm. addition resulted agrB h); agfA adrA csgD h). Piperine more effectively controlled

Effects of Extracts and an Essential Oil from Some Medicinal Plants against Biofilm Formation of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Biofilm of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, an opportunistic pathogen, can cause serious health problems, such as chronic infections, especially in immunocompromised patients. Many studies have suggested administration of new generation of antibiotics, as P. aeruginosa biofilms have developed high resistance to antimicrobial drugs. This study reports the inhibitory effect of three medicinal plant extr...

Evaluating the Effect of Copper Nanoparticles in Inhibiting Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Listeria monocytogenes Biofilm Formation

BACKGROUND Biofilm formation is a major virulence factor in different bacteria. Biofilms allow bacteria to resist treatment with antibacterial agents. The biofilm formation on glass and steel surfaces, which are extremely useful surfaces in food industries and medical devices, has always had an important role in the distribution and transmission of infectious diseases. OBJECTIVES In this stud...
